Allegiant Airlines adds more nonstop routes to Mesa airport

Good news for those wanting to save on flights, the budget friendly carrier Allegiant Airlines has started offering nonstop service to and from Phoenix area to four more routes. The airline made the announcement on October 4th.

A sale to introduce the routes had ticket prices starting as low as $50 from the Mesa Gateway Airport to Boise, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky and Omaha, Nebraska.

When the announcement was made, the sale had begun with the exception of Boise flights which could be purchased starting on October 5th.

In a press release, the executive director and CEO of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority J. Brian O’Neill said, ““We are committed to working hard to ensure these new flights are very successful.”

Allegiant Airlines, which is based in Las Vegas, in June brought in eight new routes to the East Valley airport.

Lukas Johnson, an Allegiant official, said in a partial statement, “We’re very excited.”

Flights to Omaha will be seasonal. Also, if you buy a sale ticket, they will need to be used by late February.

Beginning on October 1st, Mesa Gateway Airport started working on construction that is to improve the Transportation Security Administration security checkpoint.

The construction project will add another screening lane, changing it from four to five. In the future, there may possibly be as many as six lanes at the airport.

Construction will be happening at night and is part of a two-phase plan that was expected to be finished in February.

According to the airport, there were 1.4 million passengers that went through the airport in 2016.
